The 10 most popular credit cards in the UAE: September 2026

Ranked by what people did, not what banks advertise: applications, Apply clicks and card page visits on Perkly in September.

By the Perkly research team · Published · Covers September 2026 · Card details checked 4 October 2026

Based on Perkly data for September 2026: more than 300 card searches, and the card pages, Apply clicks and applications that followed, on perkly.ae between 1 and 30 September 2026. Card fees, rates and offers on this page update live from Perkly’s card database.

Every month the Perkly Card Index looks at which credit cards UAE residents actually chose on Perkly: the cards they applied for, started applying for, clicked Apply on and read about. In September that was more than 300 card searches, and two things stand out. Simple cashback won, led by a card that pays one flat rate on most spending, and Emirates Skywards cards rose, taking 4 of the 10 places.

Below is each card, why people chose it and, just as important, the conditions that decide whether it would pay off for you.

Invest Bank's Mastercard Platinum received the joint most applications through Perkly in September and the second most Apply clicks. It pays a flat 3% cashback on spending at home and abroad, up to AED 12,000 of cashback a year, with no categories to choose and no monthly minimum.

It is free in the first year, then AED 500 plus VAT (AED 525) a year, with a minimum salary of AED 5,000 and access to more than 25 regional and international airport lounges. Invest Bank does not publish which spending is excluded from cashback, so Perkly counts bills, rent and school fees at 0% until the bank confirms. Foreign currency spending costs about 4.3% in fees (Invest Bank's 3% plus VAT, and Mastercard's charge of about 1.15%), more than the 3% cashback, so it is not a card to use abroad.

Best for: People who want one simple cashback rate on most of their spending.

  • Earn 3% cashback on spending, capped at AED 12,000 a year
  • Unlimited access to 25+ regional and international airport lounges
  • Up to 8% off Cleartrip international flights, plus hotel and car rental discounts

What September's list tells us

Simple cashback won. The top 3 are cashback cards: Invest Bank's flat 3% and Mawarid's two cards paying 10% on groceries, dining and fuel. With ruya's flat 2% and the Duo, cashback cards hold 5 of the 10 places, and 3 in every 5 searches were for cashback. See the best cashback credit cards of September 2026.

Emirates Skywards rose. 4 of the top 10 are Skywards cards, up from 2 in August, and every application for a travel card in September was for a Skywards card. Travel searches rose too, from about 1 in 5 in August to about 3 in 10. No Etihad Guest card received an application. See our Emirates Skywards and Etihad Guest lists for the detail.

August's partner cards slipped. noon One, August's #1, finished level on points with the cards at #7 to #10, as did the American Express Platinum Credit Card, Wio and Barça; the 4 listed each received an application, which we count as the deeper signal. CBD One, FAB Cashback and NBF Islamic Platinum also left the top 10. At this volume a single application moves a card several places, so read the changes as shifts in interest, not settled trends.

Read the conditions before the headline rate

Four conditions separate a card that looks good from one that pays off:

  • Fees after the first year. Invest Bank's Platinum and the ruya card are free only in year 1: then AED 525, or AED 313.95 unless you spend AED 30,000 in the year. The Skywards cards here cost from AED 1,048.95 to AED 5,775 a year.
  • Partner-only rates. The Skywards cards' top rates apply only to Emirates and flydubai bookings (and Emirates Holidays at ADIB). Everyday spend earns much less, and supermarkets, fuel and bills earn a fraction of a Mile.
  • Monthly caps. Mawarid Platinum's 10% on groceries stops paying once you have earned AED 250 in a month, at AED 2,500 of grocery spend; the Titanium's stops at AED 1,000.
  • Minimum spend. The Duo's 5% needs AED 5,000 of spending a month; below that it pays 1.5%.

The Perkly wizard works out each card's return on your own spending after fees and caps, and flags partner-only rates and minimum-spend conditions beside every card, so check those flags before you apply. Start the wizard.

How we built this list

This list is built from what people did on Perkly between 1 and 30 September 2026, not from what banks advertise and not from payments: no bank can pay to appear here or to move up. We count four things per card, and each visit counts once, at the furthest point it reached: an application submitted through Perkly, an application started, a click on Apply now, and a visit to the card's page. Each is weighted by how far it went: an application counts 10, a started application 5, a click on Apply now 3 and a page visit 1, and the list is ordered by the total. So a card many people explored closely can sit above one with a single application, and the signal shown beside each card is its strongest one, not the whole picture.

The data covers more than 300 card searches in September. Our own testing is excluded, and visitors who opted out of analytics are not counted. About one day of activity, 25 September, was lost in a technical incident and is not included. At this scale a single application can move a card several places, so read the order as "what people gravitated to", not as a precise league table. We publish ranks rather than raw counts for the same reason.

Card details in the text were checked on 4 October 2026 against Perkly's card data, which was reviewed bank by bank against each bank's own documents between 26 and 27 September 2026. The fees, earn rates and welcome offers shown in each card panel are live from Perkly's card database, so they stay current after this article was written. Always confirm the final terms with the bank before you apply.

Frequently asked questions

What was the most popular credit card in the UAE in September 2026?

On Perkly, Invest Bank's Mastercard Platinum Credit Card, a flat 3% cashback card, led September 2026 with the joint most applications. Mawarid Finance's Platinum drew the most Apply clicks and was second, and Mawarid's Titanium was third. Mawarid's cards are not available through Perkly at the moment.

What is the best credit card in the UAE?

It depends on your salary and where you spend. A card paying 10% on groceries beats a 3% card only if you spend enough on groceries and stay under its cap. The Perkly wizard ranks every card Perkly tracks by the value it would return on your own spending, in about 2 minutes.

What was the most popular travel credit card in September 2026?

ADIB's Emirates Skywards Infinite, at #4 overall. All 4 travel cards in the top 10 were Emirates Skywards cards from ADIB and Emirates Islamic, and no Etihad Guest card received an application on Perkly in September 2026.

Which free credit card was most popular in September 2026?

The Mawarid Finance Platinum and Titanium, both free for life, were second and third overall, and Dubai Islamic Bank's Prime Platinum, also free, was ninth. Invest Bank's Platinum at number 1 is free in its first year only. Mawarid's cards are not available through Perkly at the moment.

How often is this list updated?

Every month. Each edition of the Perkly Card Index covers one calendar month of activity on Perkly and is published early the following month. Card details on every page update automatically from Perkly's card database.

Is one of these your best card?

Popular is not the same as right for you. Tell Perkly your salary and how you spend and it ranks every card in the UAE for you, or talk your options through with Perkly Chat.
