Best travel credit cards in the UAE: September 2026

Airline cards, travel cashback and flexible points: the 8 travel cards Perkly users were most interested in during September.

By the Perkly research team · Published · Covers September 2026 · Card details checked 4 October 2026

Based on Perkly data for September 2026: more than 300 card searches, and the card pages, Apply clicks and applications that followed, on perkly.ae between 1 and 30 September 2026. Card fees, rates and offers on this page update live from Perkly’s card database.

Travel was again the second most popular goal on Perkly in September, after cashback, and about half of travel searches chose Emirates Skywards. These are the 8 travel cards visitors applied for, clicked and read about most, ordered by that interest.

Four Skywards cards lead the list. After them come two cards that pay on any airline and hotel, FAB's Travel Credit Card and ADCB's Traveller, one Etihad Guest card and RAKBANK's Elevate points card. Which kind suits you depends mostly on whether you are loyal to one airline. Dubai Islamic Bank's Skywards cards still drew a few page visits, but DIB stopped taking applications for them on 1 August 2026, so they are left out.

What September's data shows

Skywards cards drew most of the serious travel interest in September. Every travel card applied for through Perkly was a Skywards card, from ADIB or Emirates Islamic, and ADIB's Emirates Skywards Infinite, second in August, moved to the top. Emirates Islamic's Skywards Black Standard, August's number 1, drew only page visits this month, while its sister card with the Gold fast track was applied for. Emirates Islamic's 100,000 Mile campaign on its Skywards Black cards closed on 30 September 2026, so neither Black card carried a welcome offer when we checked on 4 October 2026.

The cards that pay on any airline and hotel were read more than they were applied for: FAB's Travel Credit Card and ADCB's Traveller had the most visited travel card pages, but neither was applied for. Etihad Guest cards again drew less interest than Skywards cards, and ADIB's Etihad Guest Visa Infinite, last month's most visited card page on the whole of Perkly, saw far fewer visits.

At this volume a single application moves a card several places, so read the order as a guide to what people looked at, not a league table.

Miles or cashback for travel?

An airline card pays its best rate only on that airline, and Miles are worth most when you redeem them for flights or upgrades. At Perkly's value of a Skywards Mile (AED 0.1129), 3.5 Miles per US dollar on Emirates is worth about 10.8%, 1.5 Miles on local spend about 4.6%, and the 0.3 that Emirates Islamic pays on groceries, fuel and bills under 1%. If you fly Emirates or Etihad several times a year, a co-brand card and its tier benefits usually win.

If you fly whoever is cheapest, a card that pays on any airline and hotel is simpler. FAB's Travel Credit Card and ADCB's Traveller pay 12% and 10% on flights and hotels, but both pay nothing in a month you miss the AED 5,000 spend (FAB looks at the previous month), and both pay nothing on everyday spending abroad.

Lounge access: read the condition

Lounge benefits differ more than the headline suggests:

  • ADIB's Skywards cards: unlimited visits through the Visa Airport Companion app, for you and a guest on the Infinite and for the cardholder on the Signature.
  • Emirates Islamic's Skywards cards: 1 complimentary visit a year. Later visits are free only after a foreign currency purchase of at least USD 1 made 15 days or more before, otherwise USD 32 a visit.
  • FAB Travel and ADCB Traveller: 14 visits, the first 2 free outright and the rest after a purchase abroad of at least USD 1, which keeps access open for 3 months.
  • Emirates NBD's Etihad Guest Elevate: a yearly number of visits that ENBD does not publish, after a foreign currency purchase of at least USD 1 made 10 days or more before.

Our September lists of Emirates Skywards and Etihad Guest cards follow in the coming days. Until then, last month's Emirates Skywards and Etihad Guest lists cover the same cards. To rank every travel card on your own spending, after fees and caps, use the Perkly wizard: it flags airline-only rates and minimum spends so you can see which ones apply to you.

How we built this list

This list is built from what people did on Perkly between 1 and 30 September 2026, not from what banks advertise and not from payments: no bank can pay to appear here or to move up. We count four things per card, and each visit counts once, at the furthest point it reached: an application submitted through Perkly, an application started, a click on Apply now, and a visit to the card's page. Each is weighted by how far it went: an application counts 10, a started application 5, a click on Apply now 3 and a page visit 1, and the list is ordered by the total. So a card many people explored closely can sit above one with a single application, and the signal shown beside each card is its strongest one, not the whole picture.

The data covers more than 300 card searches in September. Our own testing is excluded, and visitors who opted out of analytics are not counted. About one day of activity, 25 September, was lost in a technical incident and is not included. At this scale a single application can move a card several places, so read the order as "what people gravitated to", not as a precise league table. We publish ranks rather than raw counts for the same reason.

Card details in the text were checked on 4 October 2026 against Perkly's card data, which was reviewed bank by bank against each bank's own documents between 26 and 27 September 2026. The fees, earn rates and welcome offers shown in each card panel are live from Perkly's card database, so they stay current after this article was written. Always confirm the final terms with the bank before you apply.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best travel credit card in the UAE?

In September 2026 the most chosen travel card on Perkly was ADIB's Emirates Skywards Infinite, and every travel card applied for through Perkly was an Emirates Skywards card. For people who fly several airlines, FAB's Travel Credit Card and ADCB's Traveller pay 12% and 10% on any airline and hotel, but only in months you spend AED 5,000 on them. The Perkly wizard ranks every card on your own spending, after fees and caps.

Are airline credit cards worth the annual fee?

Only if you fly that airline often enough to use the Miles and the tier benefits. At Perkly's value of a Skywards Mile, a card earning 1.5 Miles per US dollar on local spending returns about 4.6%, so an AED 2,100 fee takes about AED 45,500 of everyday local spending a year just to break even, before groceries, fuel and bills, which earn far less.

Is lounge access on UAE travel cards really free?

Often only up to a point. ADIB's Skywards cards give unlimited visits, but Emirates Islamic's give 1 complimentary visit a year, and FAB Travel and ADCB Traveller give 14 visits of which only the first 2 are free without a recent purchase abroad of at least USD 1. Check each card's conditions before you count on it.

How often is this list updated?

Every month. Each edition of the Perkly Card Index covers one calendar month of activity on Perkly and is published early the following month. Card details on every page update automatically from Perkly's card database.

Is one of these your best card?

Popular is not the same as right for you. Tell Perkly your salary and how you spend and it ranks every card in the UAE for you, or talk your options through with Perkly Chat.
