At an AED 30,000 monthly salary, we compared the 126 cards Perkly tracks that are open to you, each counted once rather than once per spend tier, and left out cards that need a private banking relationship. We took the spending Perkly users on this salary typically enter, about AED 9,200 a month, and worked out what each card would pay back in a year after its annual fee. Below is the best card for each kind of spending, with the runner-up from a different card family.

The picks are calculated from each card's rates, caps and fees as they stood on 27 September 2026, and the everyday picks all pay cashback or general points you can use, never airline miles you would have to save up for. Your own spending will differ, so treat them as a starting point.

5% supermarket

At an AED 30,000 salary this is our pick for all-rounder, groceries and dining, no annual fee and Islamic. On AED 9,200 a month of spending, it returns about AED 2,672 a year after fees, mostly from 5% on dining (AED 1,045 a year), 5% on groceries (AED 915 a year) and 1% on other shopping (AED 177 a year).

It returns about AED 4,439 when the same spending leans to groceries and dining.

You choose 2 of 5 categories (groceries, fuel, international spending, dining, education) for the higher rate. This is the groceries and dining pair. The rate is tiered on your monthly spending: 1% up to AED 3,000, 3% from AED 3,000 to AED 8,000, and 5% only above AED 8,000, with AED 250 a month on each chosen category and AED 500 a month in all. Other retail earns 1%; government spending, including tolls and public transport, earns nothing. No annual fee, and Al Hilal publishes no minimum salary. Shariah-compliant.

Best for: Big monthly spenders who want to pick their own two categories

6% dining & food

At an AED 30,000 salary this is our pick for fuel and commuting. On AED 9,200 a month of spending weighted to fuel and commuting, it returns about AED 2,606 a year after fees, mostly from 5% on fuel (AED 1,561 a year), 6% on dining (AED 707 a year) and 3% on groceries (AED 309 a year).

It pays 6% back on dining, including online food orders, 5% on fuel and Salik (paid through the Salik app, website or Dubai Now), 3% on groceries, 1% on most other spending at home and abroad, and 0.5% on bills, telecom, transport, education, rent and government payments. 10% online shopping

At an AED 30,000 salary this is our pick for online shopping. On AED 9,200 a month of spending weighted to online shopping, it returns about AED 3,818 a year after fees, mostly from 10% on online shopping (AED 3,600 a year), 1% on dining (AED 115 a year) and 1% on other shopping (AED 97 a year).

It pays 10% back on online shopping, including Apple Pay and Samsung Wallet payments, capped at AED 300 a month; supermarket, utility, telecom, government and education merchants do not earn the 10%. Spending abroad earns 2%, most other local spending 1%, and groceries, bills and fuel 0.5%. The first year is free, then AED 199 a year, waived if you spent AED 10,000 in the previous year. Sharjah Islamic Bank asks for a salary of AED 5,000 if you transfer it to the bank, or AED 8,000 if you do not. Shariah-compliant.

At this spending the monthly cap on online shopping is reached, so spending more there earns nothing extra.

Best for: People who do most of their shopping online or by phone wallet

  • 10% cashback on digital/online spend (Apple Pay, Samsung Wallet, saved cards), capped at AED 300/month
  • 2% cashback on international retail spend (excluding EEA), 1% on UAE retail spend
  • 0.5% on groceries, fuel, utilities, telecom, government and similar categories

The best card for each kind of spending

Figures are what each card would return in a year on typical spending for this salary, after its annual fee. The runner-up is the best card from a different card family.

The spending we assumed

We assumed about AED 9,200 a month goes on the card, 31% of an AED 30,000 salary. For the all-rounder it splits like this: travel AED 1,220, groceries AED 1,524, other shopping AED 1,471, dining AED 1,742, bills AED 1,464, online shopping AED 1,017, fuel AED 762.

Each category pick keeps the same total and moves more of it into that category. For groceries and dining, for example, groceries become AED 3,364 and dining AED 3,582 a month. Bills such as utilities and telecom earn little or nothing on most cards, which is why a card's everyday categories matter more than its headline rate.

What could change your pick

  • If you shop mostly with one brand: First Abu Dhabi Bank SHARE Visa Infinite could return up to AED 3,941 a year, but only if that spending goes through its partner brand. Its card page sets out the partner and the conditions.
  • Minimum spend: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank 365 Cashback Credit Card earns nothing in a month you spend less than AED 5,000 on it, so it suits steady spenders only. If you often spend less, Invest Bank Mastercard Platinum Credit Card has no minimum (Invest Bank does not publish which spending it excludes from cashback).
  • Fee waivers: several of these cards waive their fee once you spend enough in a year. We still take the published fee off, so a card you use heavily may return more than shown.
  • Welcome offers: not counted, because they change every month. Each card above shows its current offer.

How we worked these out

How we picked. For each salary we took every live card in Perkly's catalogue whose published minimum salary is at or below it. Cards that need a private or priority banking relationship are left out, and so are premium cards whose only stated minimum is the regulatory floor of AED 5,000.

  • The spending is real. The monthly total and how it splits across groceries, dining, shopping, bills, fuel and travel come from the searches Perkly users on this salary have run, taking the typical searcher in each category (the median), not an average pulled up by a few big spenders. For each kind of spending we then move more of that total into the category being judged.
  • Everyday picks pay rewards you can use. The best all-rounder and the groceries, fuel, online, no-fee and Islamic picks must pay cashback or general points. Airline and hotel cards (Emirates Skywards, Etihad Guest, Air Arabia, Marriott Bonvoy) are only considered in the travel sections, and those appear only in guides for salaries where at least 3 in 10 Perkly users choose travel as their goal: in this edition, AED 50,000 and above.
  • The annual fee is taken off in full, even where a card waives it on enough spending, and half of any joining fee is taken off, spreading it over two years.
  • A rate that applies only with one partner (one airline, one delivery app, one online store) is counted at the card's standard rate, which is what the same spending earns away from that partner.
  • A card with spend tiers is counted on the tier your monthly spending reaches, and a card with a minimum monthly spend earns nothing in a month below it.
  • Foreign currency fees are not deducted. If you spend abroad often, check each card's fee on its card page.
  • Points and miles are valued at Perkly's standard rates: cashback at face value, Etihad Guest Miles at AED 0.1175 and Emirates Skywards Miles at AED 0.1129.
  • Welcome offers and Perkly's estimates of perks such as lounge access are left out.
  • Cards Perkly is not offering at the moment are left out, and so are cards only some readers can hold (a nationality, a gender or an account with that bank); where one of those would have won, it is named beside the pick with its condition.
  • When the runner-up finishes within 5% of the pick and, unlike the pick, needs no minimum monthly spend, the runner-up becomes the pick.
  • The runner-up is the best card from a different card family, so you see a real alternative rather than a sister card.

Every guide then goes through Perkly's review committee, which checks that the picks make sense for this salary and agree with what Perkly users on it actually choose. These are estimates, not a promise from any bank, and the bank decides on your application. Card data as checked on 27 September 2026. The Perkly wizard ranks every card on your own spending.
